Would you like to attend a church concert during your visit to Hallstatt? Then it's best to make a note of August 4th, 2024. From 5:00 p.m. the “Puchheimer Jugendkammerorchester” from Germany will play in the Evangelische Christus Kirchen right near the market square. The musicians are certainly looking forward to your visit!

PJKO

The PJKO was founded in 1993 by the violinist couple Simone Burger-Michielsen and Peter Michielsen. It consists of around 30 young string players, mainly our own students aged around 11 to 20.

The PJKO is one of the most renowned youth chamber orchestras in Germany. The musical quality of the orchestra is proven by numerous prizes and awards, for example the Bavarian State Prize for Music in spring 2015 and 1st place in the German Orchestra Competition in Ulm in May 2016. There has been a sponsorship with the Munich Chamber Orchestra since 2005. Concert tours have taken the orchestra through many European countries and to Japan.

Most of the members of the orchestra are prizewinners of the “Jugend musiziert” competition. Numerous former members of the orchestra have chosen to become musicians and today work in professional orchestras, as music educators, chamber musicians or as freelance musicians.

In autumn 2015, the PJKO founded its own string academy, which aims to specifically promote talented and particularly interested young string players.
