On Friday, December 30, 2024, at 16:00 hrs., the "Salzkammergut Traditional Christmas" will take place in the pilgrimage church "Maria im Schatten" in Lauffen. In addition to the beautiful Christmas singing, the various customs groups from the region will also show the tradition from earlier times and as it is still cultivated today around the turn of the year. In the Christmas-decorated church, you can learn interesting things about the Marian place "Mary in the Shadow".
In the Salzkammergut, the Glöckler are also on the road with their magnificent caps at the beginning of the new year. This time, the painstakingly designed Glöckler caps will be worn by the Sulzbach Brunnleit'n Kinderglöckler from Lauffen. The Almtaler carol singers show the living carol singer customs with their robes. In between, old carol singer songs are sung and traditional sayings are recited.
On the trail of Father Christmas
When it gets dark early in the afternoon, the festively decorated alleys and streets glow with pre-Christmas lights and the scent of oven-fresh Christmas biscuits fills the air, then, yes then it is Advent in the Salzkammergut.
